iceberg (2009)
solar powered tetrachord, permanent outdoor sound installation

oscillators, solar panels, styrofoam, pond

Made for and installed in the pond at Prout Hill Arts and Recreation Monastery, Middletown, CT. during Ponder 2009, a day long festival of performance and installation organized by Michael Pestel.

The iceberg contains four tuned oscillators whose frequency and intensity varies with light. The general volume is extremely low, just blending with the ambient environment. As it is carried around the pond the sound changes, increases, or momentarily disappears. It is also a sunning lounge for the ponds main inhabitants: frogs.
